Faith and Family – an Introduction

Family is well-knitted domestic group of people who are linked with each other in some way such as common ancestor, marriage of adoption. In a family, the members are affiliated by the consanguinity, affinity, and co-residence. As a family consists of several human beings, there must exist a number of relationships. And no relationship can exist without the faith. And hence Faith and Family comes hand in hand. All the members of a family are nicely knitted by the strong relationships which come from the faith that the family members have towards each other. There cannot exist a strong family where you can't find any faith. You cannot separate Faith and Family. In order to build a strong family, you always need good relationships between the family members. In a happy family, you would always find Faith and Family going hand in hand.

What is family

Though the primary function of the family is to reproduce society, either biologically, socially or by both the way, but the most important thing is to knit the each and every parts of the family. Depending upon the position of the member of the family, the meaning of family changes. From the perspective of the children, a family is all about family of orientation where the family acts on the upbringing of the children and their working on their enculturation and socialization. To the parents, a family means the responsibility to enculturate and socialize their children. But whatever be the meaning of the family, the base of all things is the faith. In each of the cases Faith and Family do not walk in a different path.

Classification of family

Families can be classified in three major types, viz. Matrifocal, Consanguineal, and Conjugal. These are the ideal families and one can find any more versions of acceptable deviations from these types as well. A Matrifocal family is all about a mother and her children. This type of families can only be found where women have the resource to bring up their children by themselves. In a Consanguineal family, the members are a mother, her children and some other people. The Conjugal family consists of one or more mothers and their children.

Role of faith

A family is the place where one would find the relations between parents and children, between the spouses, between the siblings etc. One could find several interpersonal relationships that exist in a family. In order to make a happy and successful family, one has to nurture those relationships. And the basic thing that is needed to nurture the relationships is the faith. Only true faith can build a strong relationship between the family members. Each and every family member has some distinct role to play in the family. Everyone has some responsibility to others. There are also expectations from others in the family. One needs to keep up those expectations as far as it possible.

Faith in the relationships of the couples

The relationship between the couples are one of the most important aspect of a family. The couples are two different individuals who come to stay together by the virtue of marriage. They didn't have any prior blood relation like other members of the family. Therefore, the faith is the only way to build a strong relationship between the two. Similarly, in all the relations in a family, one cannot deny the role of faith in a family. Faith and Family always walked together and will also keep walking together also.
